About BayBio

BayBio is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(6) trade association serving the life science industry in Northern California. The staff and services of BayBio are paid primarily through memberships, sponsorships, and event registration fees. BayBio provides these services through representatives in South San Francisco and through coalition partners in Washington, DC.

Through advocacy, membership services, programs and more, BayBio brings the world's greatest life science community to your fingertips. With the support of more than 450 member organizations, BayBio is delivering the next generation association to you today.

Our Mission

BayBio is Northern California's life science association. We support the regional bioscience community through advocacy, enterprise support, and enhancement of research collaboration. We maintain Northern California's leadership in life science innovation by supporting entrepreneurship, science education and life science career development through the BayBio Institute. Our members include organizations engaged in, or supportive of, research, development and commercialization of life science technologies.

Our Service to the Industry

  • Business Solutions: BayBio's group purchasing program puts over $100 million of purchasing power on your side. In partnership with BIO and our vendors, BayBio delivers great value to our members on lab supplies, shipping, employment insurance and more. Additionally, BayBio members are entitled to discounts on job postings, networking events, industry best practice dialogues and workshops on management and leadership skills development.
  • Advocacy: BayBio works with elected officials, coalitions and other industry organizations to promote the needs and interests of your company. We improve the business environment for our industry in Northern California.
  • Events: Throughout the year, BayBio offers several opportunities to learn business best practices and connect with industry peers. 
  • Science Education: The BayBio Institute connects our industry with K-12 education and community colleges to improve science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education and to make students aware of and prepare for career opportunities in the life sciences industry.
  • Entreprenuership: The Network for Entrepreneurial Strategies & Tactics (NEST) provides life science entrepreneurs with the tools and resources needed to succeed.
  • Life Science Careers: The BayBio Institute works to ensure that the current and anticipated workforce needs of the industry are met.
