David H. Silberman

Director, Health and Safety Programs Office, Stanford University School of Medicine

David H. Silberman combines over forty years of research and administrative experience to focus on laboratory design, facility operations and environmental health and safety programs at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He is currently the Director of its Health and Safety Programs Office, a department he created over twenty years ago. His responsibilities include emergency planning, training program oversight, reviewing specifications and building plans, advising facility operations, and interacting with regulatory agencies. His constituency consists of nearly 10,000 faculty, research support staff, students, administrative personnel, and visitors.

Before assuming his current post, Mr. Silberman was the Research Operations Manager at the Stanford University Beckman Center. Prior to entering the world of academia, he held business development, facility, and research operation positions within the biotechnology industry. Mr. Silberman received his undergraduate and graduate training at Wagner College and NYU, respectively and learned street smarts growing up in Brooklyn, New York.
