The America Invents Act: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Jan 19, 2012 - Category: BayBio Advantage (Dedicated pricing for BayBio members)

The America Invests Act (AIA) is the most significant change in patent law since 1952. This webinar will give a summary of the basic substantive changes of AIA, including transitioning the U.S. patent system to a “first-to-file system,” determining what is considered “prior art,” elimination of best mode as an invalidity defense, and post-grant review proceedings.

The presentation will provide a brief overview of both changes already in effect and those that are coming, with an emphasis on how internal strategies and procedures may need to be changed in life sciences industries and academic institutions. In particular, we will discuss practical changes in internal procedures, as well as additional issues that may disparately harm such institutions. This webinar is designed to provide advisors to these institutions new insights on getting prepared for the changes.
