Member FAQ

How do I become a member?

Fill out the online membership application form at www.baybio.org/membership. Upon completion of application and receipt of payment, your company and respective employees will become members of BayBio. All information on the application is required.

 

How much does BayBio membership cost?

Membership rates are determined by the number of Northern California employees in your company. For a listing of fees, visit www.baybio.org/memberrates.

What is the difference between a Bioscience member and an Associate/Service Provider member?

An associate or service provider member provides devices, equipment, supplies or services to biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or medical device companies among other innovators. A bioscience company develops, researches, manufactures and commercializes products & treatments for the purpose of submitting data for marketing approval with intellectual property ownership of 50 percent or higher of said data.

How long is the membership?

Membership is for one year and commences on the date of payment. The membership is renewed annually on the anniversary date.

How does my company renew our membership?

What is the difference between a Sole Proprietor and a 1 employee member?

A 1 employee member represents a larger multi-national company. A sole proprietor is a contractor or consultant working in Northern California for his or her self.-And does not represent a multi-national company OR does not represent an organization.

My company does not have an office in the US/State- how much would our membership be?

Membership fees is based on the member category/type of the organization with 1 employee representative

How do I join a committee?

The activities and programs of BayBio are made possible because of volunteers. For more information on a committee, email us at info@baybio.org and we'll connect you with the appropriate staff member.

How do I access benefits?

A complete list of benefits available to members is available at www.baybio.org/solutions. Some vendors require an electronic registration. Others require a BayBio member code for the monthly invoice. Directions are available online. BayBio does not provide a membership number. Simply let the vendor(s) know that your company is a member of BayBio.

How do I sponsor a program?

BayBio offers several sponsorship opportunities. View all sponsorship opportunities at www.baybio.org/sponsorship.

Can I receive the newsletter without a membership?

Yes, you can receive the newsletter BayBio Notes without a membership. Sign up here.

How do I access the member portal?

To access the member portal, use your company email address as the log in and enter your password. If you do not have access to the member portal and would like to get access, contact info@baybio.org. Access to the member portal are for BayBio members only.

What are the benefits?

Membership in BayBio includes several benefits such as discounts on select services and goods through BayBio Business Solutions. Members receive discounts on BayBio events, conference and workshops.

How can I get more information on BayBio?

What is the purpose for the voluntary contribution for the PAC?

The voluntary contribution to the California Biotechnology PAC allows BayBio to support California candidates believed to be familiar with the life sciences industry.

What is the purpose for the voluntary contribution for the BBI?

As a non-profit 501(c)(3), the BayBio Institute’s objectives are met through collaborations, partnerships and the generosity of individuals, foundations and companies.

What is the relationship between BayBio and BIO?

BayBio is an affiliate of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and works closely with the larger federal organization on such programs as advocacy, group purchasing and events.

Where do my membership fees go?

Membership fees are the foundation to the programs BayBio offers, including our advocacy efforts, workshops, workforce development and entrepreneurial coahcings. Fees assist the organization in fulfilling its mission to create a better business environment in California.

Who can join BayBio?

Companies involved in or seeking to participate in the Northern California life science community are members of BayBio.  Employees of member companies access the benefits, receive the discounts, and participate in BayBio activities.
