Advances in Cardiac Care Sponsored by:
![]() Cardiac care has been a primary driver in device and drug development. Investment and reimbursement have traditionally been very favorable to technology that focuses on advancing cardiac management. And to that end, technology not only results in a large number of new devices but, is the driver for creating new medical expertise in areas such as: Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology Cardiology, Telemetry Labs, EP Labs, and Cath labs. The medical technology industry has worked hand-in-hand with the medical community to push the boundaries of technology and medicine. And in doing so they have restructured the pathway to market. Our round-table panel of experts will explore the key issues and considerations in deciding which technology to advance in cardiac care. Will the technology require a new procedure to be developed in order for it to be used? Will a new medical expertise be developed in support of the technology? Will new reimbursement codes be required? Will the technology be outdated by the time it reaches the market? Or will it be too new and expensive to be reimbursed? Panel Moderator:Frank F. Rahmani Partner, Cooley Godward Kronish LLP Panel Speakers: Bill Van Antwerp Distinguished Scientist, Medtronic S&T Mitchell J. Nelles, PhD Vice President, R&D and Technical Operations, CEO, XDx Bruce Phelps, PhD Chief Technology Officer, Aviir, Inc.
