Pain treatment is big business, with several multi-billion dollar per year pain therapeutics on the market, and several others with sales of more than $100 million per year. Misuse and abuse of pain drugs is also a big problem. According to the FDA, the misuse and abuse of pain therapies has increased significantly in the past five years.
