Medical Device Breakfast Series

With Congress pushing forward with broad based healthcare reform, it is more important than ever for device manufacturers to plan their reimbursement strategy accordingly. Lawmakers are currently looking to substantially modify the various Medicare payment policies affecting device manufacturers including reimbursement for inpatient and outpatient procedures, durable medical equipment and ambulatory surgical centers. These decisions will likely impact reimbursement not only by Federal payers, but private payers as well. In addition, lawmakers are also potentially looking to modify the way Federal health programs determine coverage decisions through comparative effectiveness.

The ramifications of these potential changes will be nothing short of significant, and knowing how these proposal may affect your reimbursement will be critical to your company’s success. Developing a reimbursement strategy early in your commercialization process will be critical to ensuring you are well positioned to gain adequate and appropriate reimbursement by public and private payers. Given the impending policy changes likely to affect the industry, having a plan is more important plan is more important than ever.
