Breakthroughs in Lung Cancer Therapy Sponsored by:
![]() With Support From: ![]() Lung cancer is the second most prevalent form of cancer in the United States and is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men and women. According to the National Cancer Institute, the overall mortality rate for lung cancer steadily increased throughout the 1980s and peaked around 1990. While mortality and incident rates for men have decreased since that time, the rates for women are just now stabilizing after continuously increasing for several decades, partly due to improvements in therapies and surgical techniques. Despite these improvements, however, the five-year survival rate for all stages combined is a dismal 16 percent. With over 200,000 new cases of lung cancer expected each year, Northern California life sciences companies are devoting efforts to discovering new, innovative therapies for the treatment of the disease. Please join us to learn more about their approach and the impact they hope to have on lung cancer.
